Joe was born in Superior, Wisconsin and is a Navy Veteran.

Survived by his wife of 54 years, Bobbie Novack, 2 children- Rayanne Leedom and Joey Novack II, 5 grandchildren- Shea Leedom, McKenzie Leedom, Joey Novack III, Alec Nicolai, Jack Nicolai, and great granddaughter Felicity Nicolai.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Ann Novack of Superior, WI and his brother Ray Novack, and survived by his 3 siblings- Lorraine Glonchak, Mary Andrews and Robert (Bob) Novack.

He was beloved and respected as a professor of Sociology, Criminology, and Philosophy at CSU Stanislaus in Turlock, CA.

Upon retiring from teaching, he began a second endeavor in rescuing and then leading a large family services agency that provided services and residence to many, many foster children and special needs kids. He retired a second time and focused exclusively on his top priority, his family.

As a man of principle, he was an active supporter and voice for the Democratic Party.

He enjoyed flying his plane, computer technology and all things political. He was a voracious reader and especially loved spending his summers at his Lake Nebagamon cabin with friends and family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, dad, grandfather & friend.

His life is a testament to his dedication to education, social justice, generosity, and fairness and his strength of conviction in all things.

He was deeply loved and will be forever missed.

We will never have another that we trusted more and relied on so much.

Joe was the best dad, husband, confidant and friend one could hope for.
