Carl Solberg

Carl Solberg, 83, longtime area resident, died Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation in Superior following a lengthy and courageous battle with COPD.

He was born in Superior, November 22, 1934, the son of Carl L. and Helen (Routh) Solberg.

He attended Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, MN and was employed as a painter and interior designer for many years before his retirement.

Carl married the love of his life, Mary Ann Johnson on June 26, 1954, and they celebrated sixty-three years of marriage before his passing.

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Oulu, Waino River Snowmobile Club, and the Brule River Sports Mans Club.

He was an avid outdoorsman and, loved to hunt and fish for trout on the Brule River. He was also a loyal Green Bay Packers fan.

Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann; daughter, Sherri (John) Ekker, Willow River, MN; sons, Scott (Bonnie) Solberg, Coon Rapids, MN, Robert Solberg, Bismark, ND, Michael (Stefanie) Solberg, St. Francis, MN and John Solberg, Mora, MN; nine grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sharron (Don) Strain, Spooner, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son, Steven Solberg; parents; and sister, Carol Totten.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Hope Lutheran Church, 2500 County Highway B, Brule, WI, and will continue until the 11:00 AM memorial service with Pastor Scott Stai officiating.

Pallbearers for the service will be Carl's grandchildren, Andy, Travis, Nicole, Nick, Chad, Claire, Rachel, Hannah and Matthew. His great-grandchildren, Aiden, Alexender, Ella, Mary, Morgan, Brock, Wyatt, and Sawyer will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.

Burial will be in Everrest Cemetery in Waino, in the spring 2018.
