SUPERIOR — The number of new cases of COVID-19 continued to decline in the last week, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported Wednesday, June 15.
Overall, the number of new cases was 24% lower than the week ending June 8, DHS reported.
The seven-day average of new cases in Wisconsin was 1,471 on Wednesday, down from 1,900 on June 8. The figure measures the average number of new cases per day over the previous week. A decrease indicates the number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the state is going down, according to DHS.
Hospitalizations as a result of COVID-19 were up slightly to 428 people from 427 on June 8, DHS reported Wednesday, based on a rolling seven-day average.
Among the people hospitalized, 55 were being treated in intensive care units, up from 45 the previous week. For the two-week period ending June 14, 13.6% of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 were being treated in Wisconsin ICUs, DHS said.
