The seven-day average of positive COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin is on the rise. On Wednesday, the figure was 221. The seven-day average of positive cases measures the average number of new cases per day over the previous week. An increase in the seven-day average of positive cases indicates the number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the state is also going up, according to DHS.

The number of negative tests in the state was 3,006,628 Wednesday, an increase of 7,092 since July 14.

An additional 280 hospitalizations were recorded, bringing the total to 34,560. Only 72 of those hospitalizations were first reported since July 14, according to DHS data. The seven-day rolling average on Wednesday was 113 people hospitalized with 31 being treated in intensive care.

Wednesday's update also showed that 98% of the people who have tested positive for the virus have recovered. Only 1%, or 3,374 cases, are currently active statewide.

DHS also reported that 5,754654 doses of vaccine have been administered by Wednesday. A total of 2,981,652 Wisconsin residents, 51.2% of the population, have received at least one dose of vaccine, and 2,844,891 people have completed the vaccine series.
