The seven-day average of positive COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin continued to climb above 600 daily. On Wednesday, the figure was 657, a number not seen since Feb. 18. The seven-day average of positive cases measures the average number of new cases per day over the previous week. An overall increase in the seven-day average of positive cases indicates the number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the state is also going up, according to DHS.

The number of negative tests in the state was 2,756,357 Wednesday, an increase of 4,421.

An additional 25 people have been hospitalized because of the virus since Wednesday, bringing the total to 27,894. Overall, 4.8% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized. Across the state, 267 people are currently hospitalized because of COVID-19, and the total number of people receiving treatment in intensive care units is 65. DHS reported that 84% of the state's available hospital beds are occupied.

Wednesday's report also showed that 97.6% of the people who have tested positive for the virus have recovered. That means 1.3%, or 7,562 cases, are currently active.

DHS also reports that 3,195,625 doses of vaccine have been administered by Wednesday with 1,987,677 Wisconsin residents, 34.1% of the population, receiving at least one dose of vaccine, and 1,227,807 people completing the vaccine series.
