Nine counties reported new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, Sept. 19, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

Douglas County reported 17 new cases of the virus, followed by Burnett County with 13, DHS said. Price County added seven cases; Ashland and Washburn counties recorded four cases each; Sawyer and Taylor counties added three cases each; and Bayfield and Rusk counties reported two cases each.

The new cases in Northwestern Wisconsin were among 2,283 reported throughout the state Saturday, DHS said, bringing the total to 99,562. Of the tests reported, 18.3% were positive. The 7-day average for positive tests was 16.4%.

Three additional people died, putting the overall number of deaths in the state at 1,241, DHS said. Overall, 2% of cases have resulted in death, according to DHS data.

The number of negative tests in the state was 1,325,447, an increase of 10,189 from the day before.

An additional 50 people were hospitalized because of the virus Saturday, DHS reported. There are currently 342 Wisconsinites hospitalized because of the virus. Overall, 7% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized. DHS has said it doesn't know the hospitalization history for 36% of people who tested positive.

Saturday's report showed that 85% of people who tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered. That means about 14%, or 13,671 cases, are active in the state.

  • Total negative tests: 7,139

Iron County

  • Active cases: 4
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 136
  • Total negative tests: 1,434

Price County

  • Active cases: 10
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 50
  • Total negative tests: 2,401

Rusk County

  • Active cases: 16
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 48
  • Total negative tests: 2,128

Sawyer County

  • Active cases: 18
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 195
  • Total negative tests: 4,319

Taylor County

  • Active cases: 37
  • Deaths: 3
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 147
  • Total negative tests: 2,614

Washburn County

  • Active cases: 11
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 91
  • Total negative tests: 2,698
