Across the 10 counties in Northwestern Wisconsin, 93 people tested positive for COVID-19 Monday, Nov. 9, according to the state Department of Health Services.

They were reported as follows: 22 in Ashland County; 16 in Bayfield County; 14 in Taylor County; eight each in Sawyer and Washburn counties; seven in Iron County; six in Price County; and four each in Burnett, Douglas and Rusk counties.

The new cases were among 4,360 reported in the state Monday, pushing the total to 271,770. The seven-day average of positive cases was 5,639, DHS said.

A resident of Burnett County was among 17 deaths reported throughout Wisconsin. It was the seventh death for the county since the pandemic began. Statewide, 2,329 people have died from the virus, DHS said. Overall, about 1% of people who have contracted the virus have died.

The number of negative tests in the state was 1,926,518, an increase of 9,717 from the previous day.

An additional 100 people were hospitalized because of the virus Monday. A record high 1,860 Wisconsinites are currently hospitalized because of the virus. Overall, about 5% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized.

Monday's report also showed that 77% of the people who have tested positive for the virus have recovered. That means 22%, or 59,088 cases, are currently active.
