Across the 10 counties in Northwestern Wisconsin, 78 people tested positive for COVID-19 Sunday, Nov. 8, according to the state Department of Health Services.
They were reported as follows: 13 in Burnett County; 10 each in Douglas and Price counties; nine each in Bayfield and Taylor counties; eight in Sawyer County; seven each in Ashland and Washburn counties; four in Iron County; and one in Rusk County.
The new cases were among 4,280 reported in the state Sunday, pushing the total to 267,410. The seven-day percentage of positive cases by person was 34.4%.
A resident of Rusk County was among 11 deaths reported throughout Wisconsin. It was the second death for the county since the pandemic began. Statewide, 2,312 people have died from the virus, DHS said. Overall, about 1% of people who have contracted the virus have died.
The number of negative tests in the state was 1,916,801, an increase of 8,481 from the previous day.

An additional 112 people were hospitalized because of the virus Sunday. A record high 1,806 Wisconsinites are currently hospitalized because of the virus. Overall, about 5% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized.
Sunday's report also showed that 77% of the people who have tested positive for the virus have recovered. That means 22%, or 58,119 cases, are currently active.
