6 more people test positive for COVID-19 Northwestern Wisconsin on Aug. 31

Douglas County reported three new cases Monday.

Four counties reported new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, Aug. 31, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services .

Douglas County reported three new cases, DHS said. Sawyer, Taylor and Washburn counties recorded one new case each.

Statewide there were a total of 75,603 positive cases of the coronavirus Monday, DHS said, an increase of 266 from the day before. Of the tests reported, 7% were positive. The 7-day average for positive tests was 8.2%.

No additional people died, leaving the overall number of deaths in the state at 1,122, DHS said. Overall, 2% of cases have resulted in death, according to DHS data.

The number of negative tests in the state was 1,172,854, an increase of 3,552 from the day before.

An additional 13 people were hospitalized because of the virus Monday, DHS reported. There are currently 287 Wisconsinites hospitalized because of the virus. Overall, 8% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized. DHS has said it doesn't know the hospitalization history for 34% of people who tested positive.

Monday's report showed that 89% of people who tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered. That means about 10%, or 7,229 cases, are active in the state.

Ashland County

  • Active cases: 7

Bayfield County

  • Active cases: 6
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 45
  • Total negative tests: 2,455

Burnett County

  • Active cases: 9
  • Deaths: 2
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 40
  • Total negative tests: 2,103

Douglas County

  • Active cases: 13
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 252
  • Total negative tests: 6,109

Iron County

  • Active cases: 26
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 122
  • Total negative tests: 1,350

Price County

  • Active cases: 3
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 36
  • Total negative tests: 2,158

Rusk County

  • Active cases: 2
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 24
  • Total negative tests: 1,645

Sawyer County

  • Active cases: 19
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 160
  • Total negative tests: 3,917

Taylor County

  • Active cases: 32
  • Deaths: 3
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 104
  • Total negative tests: 2,304

Washburn County

  • Active cases: 9
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 65
  • Total negative tests: 2,382
