57 more people test positive for COVID-19 in Northwestern Wisconsin on Sept. 24

Price County reported 12 more cases, while Burnett County added 10.

Ten counties in Northwestern Wisconsin reported new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, Sept. 24, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services .

Price County reported 12 more cases, while Burnett County added 10, DHS said. Ashland and Douglas counites each recorded eight cases; Taylor County reported six cases; Bayfield and Sawyer counties added four cases each; Rusk County recorded three cases; and Iron and Washburn counties reported one new case each.

They were among 2,392 cases reported throughout the state Thursday, DHS said, bringing the total to 108,324. Of the tests reported, 18% were positive. The 7-day average for positive tests was 17%.

Six additional people died, putting the overall number of deaths in the state at 1,265, DHS said. Overall, 1% of cases have resulted in death, according to DHS data.

The number of negative tests in the state was 1,371,070, an increase of 10,887 from the day before.

An additional 76 people were hospitalized because of the virus Thursday, DHS reported. There are currently 509 Wisconsinites hospitalized because of the virus. Overall, 6% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized. DHS has said it doesn't know the hospitalization history for 37% of people who tested positive.

Thursday's report showed that 84% of people who tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered. That means about 15%, or 16,315 cases, are active in the state.

Ashland County

  • Active cases: 40
  • Deaths: 2
  • Total cases: 82
  • Total negative tests: 2,479

Bayfield County

  • Active cases: 24
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases: 93
  • Total negative tests: 2,860

Burnett County

  • Active cases: 81
  • Deaths: 3
  • Total cases: 165
  • Total negative tests: 2,602

Douglas County

  • Active cases: 53
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases: 405
  • Total negative tests: 7,494

Iron County

  • Active cases: 3
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases: 138
  • Total negative tests: 1,475

Price County

  • Active cases: 27
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases: 69
  • Total negative tests: 2,523

Rusk County

  • Active cases: 15
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases: 55
  • Total negative tests: 2,259

Sawyer County

  • Active cases: 6
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases: 200
  • Total negative tests: 4,441

Taylor County

  • Active cases: 31
  • Deaths: 3
  • Total cases: 163
  • Total negative tests: 2,720

Washburn County

  • Active cases: 6
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases: 96
  • Total negative tests: 2,806
