An additional 42 Northwestern Wisconsin residents tested positive for COVID-19 since Friday, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported Monday, March 29.
They were reported as follows: 15 in Douglas County; seven in Bayfield County; five each in Sawyer and Washburn counties; four in Taylor County; two each in Ashland and Burnett counties; and one each in Iron and Rusk counties. No new cases were reported in Price County.
Statewide, an additional 1,264 cases were reported since Friday, DHS said, bringing the total to 576,000.

An additional four deaths reported statewide since, including one person in Sawyer County, bringing the total to 6,601 Monday, DHS said. Overall, 1.1% of people who have contracted the virus have died.

The seven-day average of positive COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin remains relatively flat. On Monday, the figure was 467. The seven-day average of positive cases measures the average number of new cases per day over the previous week. An overall decrease in the seven-day average of positive cases indicates the number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the state is also going down, according to DHS.
The number of negative tests in the state was 2,712,235 Monday, an increase of 9,671 since Friday.
An additional 113 people have been hospitalized because of the virus since Friday. Across the state, 232 people are currently hospitalized because of COVID-19 , and the total number of people receiving treatment in intensive care units is 62. DHS reported that 78% of the state's available hospital beds are occupied. Overall, 4.8% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized.
Monday's report also showed that 97.7% of the people who have tested positive for the virus have recovered. That means 1.1%, or 6,483 cases, are currently active.
DHS also reports that 2,720,952 doses of vaccine have been administered by Monday with 1,707,247 Wisconsin residents, 29.3% of the population, receiving at least one dose of vaccine, and 1,001,142 people completing the vaccine series .
