39 people test positive for COVID-19 in Northwestern Wisconsin Sept. 30

Douglas County reported 10 cases, while Taylor County added eight, DHS said.

Eight in Northwestern Wisconsin reported new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, Sept. 30, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services .

Douglas County reported 10 cases, while Taylor County added eight, DHS said. Burnett and Sawyer counties each recorded six new cases; Ashland County added five; Bayfield County reported two additional cases; and Price and Washburn counties each added one.

Iron County's total fell by one case, according to the data. Officials have said they will correct errors when they find them.

They were among 2,319 cases reported in the state Wednesday, according to DHS figures. The total number of cases in the state was 122,274. The 7-day average for positive tests was 17.2%.

Twenty-sevem additional people died from the virus, putting the total at 1,327. Overall, 1% of people who have contracted the virus in Wisconsin have died, DHS data shows.

The number of negative tests in the state was 1,423,247, an increase of 9,473 from the day before.

An additional 91 people were hospitalized because of the virus Wednesday, DHS reported. There are currently 683 Wisconsinites hospitalized because of the virus. Overall, 6% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized.

Tuesday's report showed that 82% of people who tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered. That means about 17%, or 21,004 cases, are active in the state.

  • Active cases: 68
  • Deaths: 2

  • Total negative tests: 2,918

Bayfield County

  • Active cases: 33
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases: 115
  • Total negative tests: 3,096

Burnett County

  • Active cases: 91
  • Deaths: 3
  • Total cases: 205
  • Total negative tests: 2,824

Douglas County

  • Active cases: 122
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases: 503
  • Total negative tests: 8,000

Iron County

  • Active cases: 4
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases: 142
  • Total negative tests: 1,509

Price County

  • Active cases: 58
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases: 119
  • Total negative tests: 2,759

Rusk County

  • Active cases: 21
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases: 64
  • Total negative tests: 2,374

Sawyer County

  • Active cases: 24
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases: 225
  • Total negative tests: 4,593

Taylor County

  • Active cases: 47
  • Deaths: 4
  • Total cases: 202
  • Total negative tests: 2,877

Washburn County

  • Active cases: 16
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases: 114
  • Total negative tests: 2,952
