An additional 39 Northwestern Wisconsin residents tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported Monday, March 15.
They were reported as follows: 13 in Douglas County; six in Washburn County; five each in Burnett and Sawyer counties; four in Ashland County; three in Taylor County; two in Rusk County; and one in Bayfield County.
No new cases were reported in Price County and Iron County had its total number of confirmed cases reduced by two. DHS has said this can occur when data is addresses are corrected to another county or duplicated records are consolidated.
Statewide, an additional 1,030 cases were reported through Monday, DHS said, bringing the total to 569,932.

An additional 11 deaths reported statewide over the weekend, bringing the total to 6,536 on Monday, DHS said. Overall, 1.1% of people who have contracted the virus have died.
The seven-day average of positive COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin rose above 400 over the weekend. On Monday, the figure was 437. The seven-day average of positive cases measures the average number of new cases per day over the previous week. An overall decrease in the seven-day average of positive cases indicates the number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the state is also going down, according to DHS.
The number of negative tests in the state was 2,674,549 an increase of 10,093 through Monday.
An additional 107 people have been hospitalized because of the virus since Friday. Across the state, 212 people are currently hospitalized because of COVID-19 , and the total number of people receiving treatment in intensive care units is 57. DHS reported that 76% of the state's available hospital beds are occupied. Overall, 4.7% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized.
Monday's report also showed that 97.8% of the people who have tested positive for the virus have recovered. That means 1.1%, or 6,023 cases, are currently active.
DHS also reports that 2,015,127 million doses of vaccine have been administered by Monday with 1,258,563 Wisconsin residents, 21.6% of the population, receiving at least one dose of vaccine, and 709,806 of people completing the vaccine series .
