An additional 35 Northwestern Wisconsin residents tested positive for COVID-19 since Friday, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Monday, April 26.
They were reported as follows: 12 in Douglas County; eight in Sawyer County; three each in Bayfield, Price and Washburn counties; two each in Ashland and Taylor counties; and one each in Burnett and Iron counties. No new cases were reported in Rusk County.
Statewide, an additional 1,260 cases were reported over the weekend, DHS said, bringing the total to 595,049 Monday.

An additional 18 deaths reported statewide since Friday, bringing the total to 6,756 Monday, DHS said. Overall, 1.1% of people who have contracted the virus have died.

The seven-day average of positive COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin fell slightly over the weekend. On Monday, the figure was 602. The seven-day average of positive cases measures the average number of new cases per day over the previous week. An overall decrease in the seven-day average of positive cases indicates the number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the state is also going down, according to DHS.
The number of negative tests in the state was 2,831,052 Monday, an increase of 10,205 since Friday.
An additional 138 people, including one person in Douglas County, have been hospitalized because of the virus since Friday, bringing the total to 29,003. Overall, 4.9% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized.
Monday's report also showed that 97.4% of the people who have tested positive for the virus have recovered. That means 1.5%, or 8,600 cases, are currently active.
DHS also reports that 4,228,785 doses of vaccine have been administered by Monday with 2,452,970 Wisconsin residents, 42.1% of the population, receiving at least one dose of vaccine, and 1,834,240 people completing the vaccine series.
