Eight counties in Northwestern Wisconsin reported new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, Oct. 12, according to DHS .
The new cases were reported as follows: 12 in Price County; eight in Taylor County; four each in Rusk and Washburn counties; three in Ashland County; two in Sawyer County; and one each in Douglas and Iron counties.
Douglas County reported its first death from COVID-19 , according to a new release issued after the state updated its records.
They were among 1,956 new cases in the state reported Monday, pushing the total to 152,192.
Including the Douglas County resident, 10 additional people died from the virus, bringing the total number of deaths in the state to 1,475. Overall, 1% of people who contracted the virus in Wisconsin have died, DHS data shows.

The number of negative tests in the state was 1,545,692, an increase of 7,815 from the day before.
An additional 56 people were hospitalized because of the virus Monday. There are currently 872 Wisconsinites hospitalized because of the virus. Overall, about 6% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized.
Monday's report also showed that 80% of the people who have tested positive for the virus have recovered. That means 19% cases, or 29,478 cases, are currently active.
