29 more people test positive for COVID-19 in Northwestern Wisconsin on Sept. 20

The state topped 100,000 total cases; Douglas County added two new cases.

Seven counties reported new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, Sept. 20, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services .

Ashland and Burnett counties reported eight new cases each, while Bayfield and Taylor counties added four news cases apiece, DHS said. Douglas and Price counties recorded two new cases each; Rusk County reported one new case.

The new cases in Northwestern Wisconsin were among 1,665 reported throughout the state Sunday, DHS said, bringing the total to 101,227 Of the tests reported, 20% were positive. The 7-day average for positive tests was 16.3%.

One additional person died, putting the overall number of deaths in the state at 1,242, DHS said. Overall, 2% of cases have resulted in death, according to DHS data.

The number of negative tests in the state was 1,332,102, an increase of 6,655 from the day before.

An additional 34 people were hospitalized because of the virus Sunday, DHS reported. There are currently 362 Wisconsinites hospitalized because of the virus. Overall, 7% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized. DHS has said it doesn't know the hospitalization history for 36% of people who tested positive.

Sunday's report showed that 85% of people who tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered. That means about 14%, or 14,143 cases, are active in the state.

Ashland County

  • Active cases: 23
  • Deaths: 2

  • Total negative tests: 2,356

Bayfield County

  • Active cases: 19
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 82
  • Total negative tests: 2,704

Burnett County

  • Active cases: 56
  • Deaths: 3
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 122
  • Total negative tests: 2,536

Douglas County

  • Active cases: 58
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 378
  • Total negative tests: 7,139

Iron County

  • Active cases: 4
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 136
  • Total negative tests: 1,434

Price County

  • Active cases: 12
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 52
  • Total negative tests: 2,401

Rusk County

  • Active cases: 14
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 49
  • Total negative tests: 2,127

Sawyer County

  • Active cases: 11
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 195
  • Total negative tests: 4,350

Taylor County

  • Active cases: 40
  • Deaths: 3
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 151
  • Total negative tests: 2,634

Washburn County

  • Active cases: 8
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 91
  • Total negative tests: 2,721
