Eight counties reported new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, Sept. 6, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services .
Douglas and Washburn counties each reported five new cases, DHS said. Burnett County recorded four, Bayfield County added three and Taylor County reported two new cases. Iron, Rusk and Sawyer counties each reported one new case.
Statewide there were a total of 81,193 positive cases of the coronavirus Sunday, DHS said, an increase of 893 from the day before. Of the tests reported, 16.2% were positive. The 7-day average for positive tests was 10%.
No additional people died, leaving the overall number of deaths in the state at 1,168, DHS said. Overall, 2% of cases have resulted in death, according to DHS data.
The number of negative tests in the state was 1,221,894, an increase of 4,616 from the day before.

An additional 22 people were hospitalized because of the virus Sunday, DHS reported. There are currently 275 Wisconsinites hospitalized because of the virus. Overall, 7% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized. DHS has said it doesn't know the hospitalization history for 34% of people who tested positive.
Sunday's report showed that 89% of people who tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered. That means about 10%, or 8,101 cases, are active in the state.

Sawyer County
- Active cases: 11
- Deaths: 0
- Total cases reported since pandemic began: 166
- Total negative tests: 4,093
Taylor County

Washburn County
