A total of 207 people in Northwestern Wisconsin tested positive for COVID-19 Saturday, Nov. 28, the state Department of Health Services reported.

The cases were reported as follows: 46 in Douglas County; 27 in Bayfield County; 25 in Sawyer County; 22 in Rusk County; 18 each in Ashland, Burnett and Washburn counties; 16 in Price County; 10 in Taylor County; and seven in Iron County.

The new cases were among 5,033 reported statewide Saturday, bringing the total to 380,870, DHS said. The seven-day average of positive cases was 4,243, compared to 727 on Sept. 1, DHS said.

An additional 28 deaths were reported statewide Saturday. The total number of Wisconsinites who have died from COVID-19 is 3,285. Overall, about 1% of people who have contracted the virus in Wisconsin have died, DHS said.

The number of negative tests in the state was 2,138,110, an increase of 4,410 from the previous day.

An additional 167 people were hospitalized because of the virus Saturday. Across the state, 1,843 people are currently hospitalized because of COVID-19. Overall, 4% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized.

Saturday's report also showed that 81% of the people who have tested positive for the virus have recovered. That means 19%, or 70,753 cases, are currently active.
