20 new cases of COVID-19 in Northwestern Wisconsin on Aug. 13

Douglas County had 54 active cases of the virus Thursday, the most of any county in the region.

Six counties reported new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, Aug. 13, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services .

Douglas County had nine additional cases, followed by Sawyer County with four, DHS said. Ashland, Burnett and Washburn counties each recorded two additional cases, while Bayfield County added one new case. DHS reduced the total cases in Price County by one. Officials have said they will update errors in the data as they find them.

Statewide there were a total of 63,206 positive cases of the coronavirus Thursday, DHS said, an increase of 943 from the day before. Of the tests reported, 7.6% were positive. The 7-day average for positive tests was 6.9%.

Seven additional deaths were reported, putting the overall number of deaths in the state at 1,018, DHS said. Overall, 2% of cases have resulted in death, according to DHS data.

The number of negative tests in the state was 1,035,195, an increase of 11,472 from the day before.

An additional 45 people were hospitalized because of the virus Thursday, DHS reported. There are currently 364 Wisconsinites hospitalized because of the virus. Overall, 8.2% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized. DHS has said it doesn't know the hospitalization history for 34% of people who tested positive.

Thursday's report showed that 84% of people who tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered. That means about 14%, or 8,931 cases, are active in the state.

Ashland County

  • Active cases: 9

Bayfield County

  • Active cases: 5
  • Deaths: 1

  • Total negative tests: 2,029

Burnett County

  • Active cases: 11
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 25
  • Total negative tests: 1,754

Douglas County

  • Active cases: 54
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 207
  • Total negative tests: 5,059

Iron County

  • Active cases: 26
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 76
  • Total negative tests: 1,234

Price County

  • Active cases: 9
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 32
  • Total negative tests: 1,928

Rusk County

  • Active cases: 6
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 21
  • Total negative tests: 1,424

Sawyer County

  • Active cases: 33
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 86
  • Total negative tests: 2,876

Taylor County

  • Active cases: 28
  • Deaths: 1
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 73
  • Total negative tests: 2,001

Washburn County

  • Active cases: 30
  • Deaths: 0
  • Total cases reported since pandemic began: 49
  • Total negative tests: 2,126
