130 more people test positive for COVID-19 in Northwestern Wisconsin on Nov. 23

Douglas County reported 50 new cases

A total of 130 people in Northwestern Wisconsin tested positive for COVID-19 Monday, Nov. 23, according to the state Department of Health Services.

The cases were reported as follows: 50 in Douglas County; 29 in Taylor County; 17 in Rusk County; 10 in Price County; seven each in Ashland and Sawyer counties; five in Bayfield County; three in Washburn County; and two in Burnett County. No new cases were reported in Iron County.

The new cases were among 3,095 reported statewide Monday, bringing the total to 357,771, DHS said. The seven-day average of positive cases was 5,859, compared to 727 on Sept. 1, DHS said.

Six additional deaths from COVID-19 were reported Monday. The total number of Wisconsinites who have died from COVID-19 is 3,011. Overall, about 1% of people who have contracted the virus in Wisconsin have died, DHS said.

DHS reduced Taylor County's total number of deaths by one Monday. Officials have said they will correct errors in the data as they find them.

The number of negative tests in the state was 2,094,448, an increase of 9,196 from the previous day.

An additional 107 people were hospitalized because of the virus Monday. Across the state, 1,988 people are currently hospitalized because of COVID-19. Overall, about 5% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized.

Monday's report also showed that 78% of the people who have tested positive for the virus have recovered. That means 21%, or 74,340 cases, are currently active.
