120 more people test positive for COVID-19 in Northwestern Wisconsin Oct. 30

Douglas County reported 22 cases, followed by Taylor County with 21.

A total of 120 people tested positive for COVID-19 Friday, Oct. 30, in the 10 counties that make up Northwestern Wisconsin, according to the state Department of Health Services.

They were reported as follows: 22 in Douglas County; 21 in Taylor County; 14 in Iron County; 11 in Bayfield County; 10 in Price County; nine each in Ashland, Rusk, Sawyer and Washburn counties; and six in Burnett County.

They were among 5,096 cases reported in the state Friday — the second-highest number of positive cases reported in one day since the pandemic began. The state's total number of COVID-19 cases grew to 220,092. The seven-day percentage of positive cases by person was 28.2%.

There were 24 deaths reported in Wisconsin Friday, pushing the total number of deaths from COVID-19 to 1,972. Overall, about 1% of people who have contracted the coronavirus in Wisconsin have died.

The number of negative tests in the state was 1,817,061, an increase of 13,596 from the previous day.

An additional 142 people were hospitalized because of the virus Friday. There are currently 1,453 Wisconsinites hospitalized because of the virus, a record high that continues to climb. Overall, 5% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized.

Friday's report also showed that 78% of the people who have tested positive for the virus have recovered. That means 21%, or 46,833 cases, are currently active.
