105 more people test positive, 1 dies from COVID-19 in Northwestern Wisconsin on Nov. 30

The person who died was a resident of Bayfield County.

A resident of Bayfield County died from complications related to COVID-19, the state Department of Health Services reported Monday, Nov. 30.

Bayfield County has now lost 13 residents since the start of the pandemic. The person's death was among six reported statewide Monday. The total number of Wisconsinites who have died from COVID-19 is 3,313. Overall, about 1% of people who have contracted the virus in Wisconsin have died, DHS said.

A total of 105 people in Northwestern Wisconsin tested positive for COVID-19 Monday, DHS said. The cases were reported as follows: 22 in Taylor County; 21 in Douglas County; 16 in Sawyer County; 15 in Price County; 10 each in Bayfield and Washburn counties; six in Ashland County; three in Rusk County; and two in Burnett County. No new cases were reported in Iron County.

The new cases were among 2,534 reported statewide Monday, bringing the total to 387,235, DHS said. The seven-day average of positive cases was 4,209, compared to 727 on Sept. 1, DHS said.

The number of negative tests in the state was 2,149,996, an increase of 6,206 from the previous day.

An additional 96 people were hospitalized because of the virus Monday. Across the state, 1,824 people are currently hospitalized because of COVID-19. Overall, 4% of Wisconsinites who contracted the virus have been hospitalized.

Monday's report also showed that 81% of the people who have tested positive for the virus have recovered. That means 18%, or 68,774 cases, are currently active.
