Sept. 23 has been set aside for the ninth annual Douglas County Youth Fair. The event is free and open to all youth up to age 18 and their families. It will be held at the Superior Middle School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those planning to attend may come for an hour or stay all day.

Many local youth organizations will have booths featuring educational activities and information. There will be many demonstrations and activities as well as clubs and educational resources including:

  • Gymnastics and dance demonstrations.
  • Live music.
  • Try the SMS climbing wall.
  • Free hot dog lunch.
  • Door prizes.
  • Health and nutrition activities.
  • Mini golf putting green.

New this year is the "Change for Charlie" project. Everyone attending is encouraged to bring their spare change to put in the giant dog bowl. ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) will be at the Youth Fair and bringing some of their dogs and cats for youth to meet.
All area youth serving organizations that provide activities, programs, and/or resources to youth through age 18 are welcome to set up an information booth at no cost. Registration packets were recently mailed out.

If any organization did not receive the information, they may contact Joan Wimme at UW-Extension at 395-1363.
