Northern Lights Girl Scouts filled the seats at Monday night's board meeting to see their troop leader honored.
Kathy Polanka was recognized by Superior school district at the monthly board meeting for her contributions to the district.
Superintendent Jay Mitchell read a nomination letter from a Girl Scout parent who praised Polanka for her caring, leadership and hard work in support of the troop.
Polanka has made an effort to ensure the girls have an opportunity to attend concerts and plays through the Scouts. The girls have had rummage sales and cookie sales. She works to keep everyone involved in Scouts, the letter read.
Polanka accepted the plaque to the applause of her troop members and parents.

The district honors a faculty or community member at each board meeting for their contributions to the district.
