WPR appoints KUWS alumna in interim for Superior bureau

Wisconsin Public Radio appointed University of Wisconsin-Superior graduate and freelance journalist Danielle Kaeding to fill the network's regional reporting vacancy in Superior.

Wisconsin Public Radio appointed University of Wisconsin-Superior graduate and freelance journalist Danielle Kaeding to fill the network’s regional reporting vacancy in Superior.

The vacancy was created by the unexpected death of long-time bureau reporter Mike Simonson earlier this month.

Kaeding was hired on an interim basis while WPR conducts a national search for the full-time position.

“Dani is a former student of Mike’s and cut her journalistic teeth as a reporter in the Superior bureau,” said WPR Northern Regional Manager John Munson. “WPR is committed to listeners in northern Wisconsin and we’re happy to have Dani covering the news for a local and statewide audience.”

Kaeding is an experienced and award-winning journalist who is familiar with the communities and issues of northern Wisconsin. Among other credits, her experience includes a stint as a La Crosse bureau reporter for Wisconsin Public Radio, and station manager and news reporter for Northland College station WRNC-LP in Ashland.
