NEW RICHMOND, Wis. -- A 30-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl were found dead inside a New Richmond home just after noon Wednesday; authorities announced this morning that a suspect tracked down in Texas has been arrested and is now in custody.
New Richmond Police Lieutenant Jerry Cody said Thursday morning the bodies were found at 1400 Hallewood Boulevard after the New Richmond Fire Department was called to the house for what appeared to be a smoke alarm.
The woman was found in the upstairs area of the home and the child in the basement.

The bodies were transferred to the Ramsey County (Minn.) Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
Their identities have yet to be released pending notification of family.
The suspect - Cristian Daniel "Danny" Nunez-Ortega, 37, was arrested Thursday morning in Texas, so extradition must be completed before criminal charges can proceed.
"This is absolutely a bad day," New Richmond Mayor Fred Horne said at a press conference outside the police department offices.
"We want to express our condolences to the family ... New Richmond is a small, safe community and this is an isolated incident."
New Richmond is a town of about 8,400 people in St. Croix County in northwest Wisconsin.
