The charge against a Lake Nebagamon man accused of poisoning a neighbor's cat by feeding it tuna laced with anti-freeze was dismissed Monday in Douglas County Circuit Court due to lack of evidence.
A Lake Nebagamon woman who faces the same charge goes to trial in July.
Steven Albert Wing, 37, and Vickie L. Effinger, 43, each faced one charge of being party to the crime of intentionally mistreating animals. Only Effinger's case continued after Monday hearings.
The cat's owners, Jacob, David and Terri Ishamel, made statements and questioned the lack of evidence in Wing's case. When Judge George Glonek moved to dismiss the case without prejudice, Terri Ishamel asked for a restraining order against Wing. The court advised Ishamel how to obtain one.
Effinger's case was scheduled for a July 10 trial.
