FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) -- A 2-year-old girl crossing the street with her mother in Fond du Lac was struck and dragged by car.

A vehicle driven by an 88-year-old woman also hit the child's mother, who suffered minor injuries Wednesday.

The toddler was rushed to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac and then flown to Children's Hospital in Milwaukee. Her condition was not available.

Fond du Lac police Capt. Steve Klein says the child was dragged underneath the car for about 70 feet. Several witnesses lifted the back of the car to free the girl.

The Fond du Lac Reporter says the driver was cited for inattentive driving and failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian and causing injury. An investigation is continuing.
