EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Wisconsin overcame a two-goal deficit to tie Michigan State Saturday night 4-4 when Scott Gudmanson earned the draw in just his second game as a Badger.
The Spartans (8-3-2, 4-2-0 CCHA) led 2-1 after the first period. Michigan State's Bryan Lerg had the first score of the game, his fourth of the season, and was assisted by Daniel Vukovic. But a minute later, Ryan McDonagh tied the game for the Badgers (5-6-1 overall, 2-4-0 WCHA). Then Matt Schepke also posted a power-play goal for the Spartans.
With 5.2 seconds left in the second period, Blake Geoffrion tied the game for Wisconsin with a wrist shot.
Each team posted two back-to-back goals in the final period, forcing the overtime. The overtime was Wisconsin's first of the season. Davis Drewiske scored for Wisconsin with 9:07 left in regulation, while Ben Street got a goal after going one-on-one with goaltender Jeff Lerg, back-handing a shot over his left shoulder. But neither team was able to score in overtime.
The Badgers were 0-for-3 on the power play, and held Michigan State to 1-for-6 on their power-play attempts.
