When the unofficial results were totaled Tuesday night, recall candidate Shelly Moore won Wisconsin's 10th Senate District primary 3,000 votes ahead of the opponent who didn't campaign.
With votes from all five counties in the district tallied, Moore had just under 54 percent of the 35,790 votes cast and Isaac Weix had just under 45 percent.
The unofficial totals were 19,301 for Moore, 16,033 for Weix and 456 write-in votes.
Moore, River Falls, will now face Senator Sheila Harsdorf in the Aug. 9 recall election.
Weix, 36, who has run in other races as a Republican said he entered this race to force a primary and give Harsdorf, who was busy in Madison, more time to campaign.

Moore said she had decided to challenge Harsdorf in a recall race because Harsdorf had stopped communicating with constituents and has supported legislation that will harm them.
Weix said the effort by Democrats to recall Harsdorf has nothing to do with issues or positions but about the power unions lost when the governor and Republican-controlled Legislature eliminated most bargaining rights.
Moore, 37, an Ellsworth High School English and drama teacher who has held leadership positions in the teachers' union on the local, state and national level, decided in April to be a Democratic candidate to challenge Harsdorf.
Two months later, Weix, co-owner of T and S Hardware in Elmwood who has run in two previous Assembly races as a Republican, filed as a Democrat.
