MADISON (AP) -- State wildlife officials are hoping to hook more anglers with their annual free fishing weekend.

State residents and nonresidents of any age will be able to fish anywhere in Wisconsin without a license on June 5 and 6. All other fishing regulations will still apply, though.

The state Department of Natural Resources and local fishing clubs plan to offer more than two dozen free fishing clinics across the state.

The DNR also will lend rods and reels to anglers at 50 agency locations. Anglers should call ahead to make sure equipment is available and to arrange to pick it up. A list of locations and contact information is available at http://dnr.wi.gov/fish/kidsparents/loanercontacts.html
