SUNDAY, DULUTH -- Junior Achievement hosts high school "garage bands" event at the DECC. High School Rocks is a region-wide battle of the bands, where up to 12 high school bands with high school musicians compete head-to-head in the Arena. Proceeds support Junior Achievement programs in northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin.
SUNDAY, LADYSMITH -- The Flambeau Valley Arts Association presents a concert by bassoonist Marc Vallon, pianist Todd Welbourne and oboist Marc Fink at 3 p.m. at Ladysmith High School, 1700 Edgewood Ave. E. Tickets are available at the door. Fink and Vallon are members of Wingra Woodwind Quartet. Welbourne is a member of the piano faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Music.

FALL, DOUGLAS/BAYFIELD COUNTIES -- Family Forum, Inc. Project Head Start and Early Head Start are now accepting child applications for the 2007-2008 Head Start program. Head Start serves prenatal women and children birth to five years of age in Douglas and Bayfield counties and provides services to children with disabilities. Superior Head Start sites are an authorized Community Preschool Site (4K).
