FUNDRAISER

FRIDAY, SUPERIOR -- The Salvation Army is holding their "Christmas in June" fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Bell ringers and their red kettles will be stationed at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, K-mart, Keyport Liquor, National Bank of Commerce (main branch), M&I Bank, Superior Choice Credit Union (main branch) and Super One grocery stores. The event supports the summer day camp program.

STAR GAZING

FRIDAY, SUPERIOR -- The University of Wisconsin-Superior's Schrieber Observatory offers the public an opportunity to see galaxies, planets, star clusters and nebulae on Friday nights. The observatory atop Barstow Hall is accessible by entering through the breezeway between Barstow and McCaskill halls and taking the stairs or elevator to the third floor. Admission is free. DINNER

SATURDAY, IRON RIVER -- The fourth annual St. Michael Church Altar and Rosary Society's chicken and meatball dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. in St. Michael Parish Hall, 68105 S. George St., Iron River. St. Michael's evening mass that day has been rescheduled from 6 p.m. to 4 p.m. and dinner will follow at 5 p.m. Takeouts are available. The parish hall is handicapped accessible. The public is welcome.

MEETINGS

SATURDAY, LAKE NEBAGAMON -- The annual meeting of the Nebagamon Lake Association is set for 9 a.m. to noon at the auditorium. A social hour from 9:30 to 10 a.m., will be followed by the business meeting. Current and prospective projects will be discussed, including the purple loosestrife beetle program.

From 1 to 3 p.m. in the Great Lakes Aquarium's Learning Labs, those attending will be designing lifelike catfish from paper tubes, paint and pipe cleaners. JULY, SUPERIOR -- The Central High School class of 1939 will meet at noon July 3 at the Upper Deck restaurant. All classmates are invited.

JULY, SUPERIOR -- Superior East High Class of 1962 has scheduled its 45th reunion. The main event is at 6:30 p.m. July 7 on a Vista Star dinner cruise (cruise reservations are now closed).
