As colder air moves into Northeastern Minnesota, Thursday afternoon's rain-and-snow mixture is expected to turn into snow overnight, according to National Weather Service in Duluth.

The snow will end tonight for most areas, but travel may be affected from wet roads re-freezing overnight, the weather service said.

Areas around and north of Silver Bay and areas west of Interstate 35 probably will receive less than 1 inch of snow. Snow amounts are expected to increase from Ashland heading east. Lake Superior's South Shore will see snow end midday Friday, which may affect morning travel conditions.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Ashland and Iron counties.
