The National Weather Service has extended the winter storm warning in Lake and Cook counties until noon today.

The northern and central parts of St. Louis County are no longer included in the storm warning.

The winter weather advisory for southern St. Louis County and Carlton County has also been extended until noon today with the possibility of up to an additional inch of snow.

The snow should end by mid-morning across northeast Minnesota.

Northeast Minnesota snowfall totals as of Thursday morning from the NWS:

  • 9.2 inches in Orr at 6:15 a.m.

  • 8.5 inches in Ely at 7:37 a.m.

  • 7.5 inches in Babbitt at 7:43 a.m.

  • 7.3 inches in Bigfork at 6:51 a.m.

  • 6.8 inches in Cook at 6 a.m.

  • 1.3 inches in Silver Bay at 7 a.m.

  • 0.4 inches in Duluth at 6 a.m.

  • 0.2 inches in Wright at 6 a.m.

  • 0.2 inches in Moose Lake at 5:30 a.m.

As of 8:30 a.m. Thursday, the Duluth Police Department had responded to five weather-related crashes since Wednesday evening, according to Public Information Officer Ingrid Hornibrook. None of those crashes included any injuries.
