Wayne Lewis Hicks, 69, Pease, Minn., died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at the Elim Home, Princeton, Minn.
Wayne was born April 20, 1938, in Superior, son of Hobert J. and Alice M. (Wolden) Hicks. He was raised and educated in Superior, graduating from high school here. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior and where he received his master's degree.
He worked as a chef at the Androy Hotel in Superior. He was also an orderly at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. In 1978, he moved to Pease, where he has had an office, working as an accountant.
Wayne served on the Pease City Council, was past president of the Minnesota Association of Public Accountants, worked with the Milaca Fare-For-All Food Program (ordering and accounting), a member of the National Society of Accountants and was also an Enrolled Agent.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Maija-Lisa Phernetton of Shell Lake; his son, Erick Phernetton of Barron; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Jerome (Carol) Hicks of Superior and Dennis (Renee) Hicks of Blaine, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Hobert and Donald.
A memorial service took place Thursday at Williams-Hanson-Kaun Funeral Home, Princeton.
