The Northwestern High School volleyball team began its seasons with wins over Ironwood (Mich.) and Bessemer (Mich.) in Ironwood Thursday.
The Tigers defeated Ironwood 25-19, 25-16 and Bessemer 25-10, 25-10.
For the two games, senior Lindsay Taipale led NHS with 17 kills, while junior Anna Morgan added 13 kills of her own. Senior setter Lindsay Garay finished with 41 set assists.
