Vito new coach of UMC baseball

Former University of Wisconsin-Superior baseball coach Chris Vito has been hired as the baseball coach and assistant sports information director at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.

Former University of Wisconsin-Superior baseball coach Chris Vito has been hired as the baseball coach and assistant sports information director at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.

"We are very excited to have coach Vito join our athletics team," UMC Athletic Director Stephanie Helgeson said. "We think he will make a great impact on our baseball players and the program overall. Chris is also going to be an integral part of our media relations staff in the coverage of our athletic teams and student athletes."

Vito is currently the assistant baseball coach at Mesabi Range Community and Technical College in Virginia, Minn. At MRCTC, he served in all facets of the baseball program from fundraising and recruiting to scheduling and overall baseball program organization.

Prior to MRCTC, Vito served as the baseball coach and SID at the UWS.

"Our team goal is to compete with everyone in the NSIC. Getting to that point is going to be a process, but I am confident that we will achieve success," Vito said. "My goal is to attract players that will be a credit to our program, the athletic department, the university and the community. We will strive for success on the diamond, in the classroom, and in the community."
