Violet Johnson, 89, Superior, died Sunday, June 10, 2007, in her son's home in Windsor, Wis.

She was born March 18, 1918, in Winton, Minn., to Robert and Matilda (Stanislawski) Sanger.

Vi grew up in Washburn and graduated from Washburn High School in 1936. She married Raymond Johnson of Bayfield on Aug. 16, 1941. They relocated to Superior in 1951 where she was a resident of East End for 55 years until she went to live with her son, Stan, and his wife, Nancy in June of 2006.

In 1962, at the age of 44, Vi fulfilled a long-time dream and received her license as a licensed practical nurse and joyfully practiced nursing until her retirement in 1982. She was a long-time employee of the East End Clinic, and was always greeted warmly by former patients who remembered and appreciated her kindness and competency.

In addition to her son and daughter-in-law, Stan and daughter-in-law Nancy Johnson of Windsor, she is survived by a son, Thomas D. Johnson, New York City; her brother, Chester Sanger of Sun City, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Carol Sanger of Yuba City, Calif.; and by several nieces and nephews.
