CUMBERLAND, Wis. --  Two people died and 16 others were injured -- one critically -- on Saturday in a collision between a car and a school bus carrying the Spooner High School volleyball team near Cumberland in far northwest Wisconsin.

Tiffany Hostetler, 29, and her daughter Elanora Hutton, 3, died on the scene, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol. Five-year-old Marshall Hutton, who was also in the car, was critically injured and transported to Cumberland Memorial Hospital before being flown to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

The crash happened at about 2:35 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 63 and Barron County Highway B just north of Cumberland. Initial reports indicated that the car was westbound on Highway B and failed to stop at Highway 63; it was struck on the driver's side by the northbound bus.
