Vehicle crash delays traffic on Superior's Belknap Street

The driver of the SUV was uninjured in a crash with a locomotive.

A train-vehicle crash on North 12th Street near Poplar Avenue in Superior caused delays for traffic traveling on Belknap Street on Monday, Aug. 23.

Superior police and fire departments and Mayo Ambulance personnel responded to the crash involving a locomotive and sport utility vehicle around 9:52 a.m. Monday.

The crash was minor, and the 80-year-old driver of the SUV was evaluated and determined to be uninjured, according to a new release from the Superior Police Department.

The incident caused significant delays on Belknap Street and police thanked people travelling in the affected area for their patience and cooperation.

The incident remains under investigation.
