Criminal justice students at the University of Wisconsin-Superior brought home 21 awards from a regional conference.
Nine members of the UWS Criminal Justice Student Association-Alpha Delta PI, traveled to Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich. for the American Criminal Justice Association Region 6 Conference last weekend. The group participated in knowledge tests, physical agility, crime scene investigation and firearms competitions.
Upper division students:
- Senior Jeffrey Jensen of St. Croix Falls took first place in LAE knowledge, police administration and juvenile justice.
- Senior Jeremy Erickson of Bayfield took first place in criminal justice, and third place in police administration and LAE knowledge.
- Senior Kristen Germann of Superior took first place for corrections, second place for LAE Knowledge, second place for police administration and second place for juvenile justice.
Lower division students:
- Sophomore Mike Mahlen of Danbury took second in police administration, firearms and crime scene investigation.
- Sophomore Colleen Daveren of Duluth placed first in LAE knowledge and corrections and second in criminal law.
- Sophomore Jack Hawjeski of River Falls took second for crime scene investigation.
- Sophomore Andy J. Bach of Luck took third in police administration and criminal law.
- Duluth sophomore Jamie placed third in LAE knowledge.
- Rachel Jaeger, an Ashland sophomore, took first place in police administration, second place for crime scene investigation and third place corrections.
Students are planning to travel to Kansas City, Mo., in early April to compete.
