The University of Wisconsin-Superior announced Thursday that former St. Scholastica assistant baseball coach Edmund Morgan will take over as coach of the Yellowjackets.
"It took courage and confidence to make that decision," said St. Scholastica baseball coach John Baggs. "I'm proud of him for making that decision."
Morgan spent the past nine seasons as an assistant baseball coach at CSS, where he was a recruiting coordinator.
During Morgan's time there, CSS was the winningest Division III program in the country. Last season, the Saints went 37-7 with a 21-0 record in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference. CSS also defeated WIAC champion UW-Stevens Point, a team Morgan will continue to face as the Yellowjackets coach.
"It's a compliment for them to come to our staff and to get a coach," Baggs said. "I think he'll do a great job and they'll be in the conference tournament by '08. I think it was a great move on Eddie's part and a great move on UWS's part."

Morgan replaces former UWS head coach Chris Vito who resigned in May following a 3-35 season that included an 0-24 record in the WIAC.
Hired in August 2003, Vito was 12-100 at UWS, including 3-71 in the WIAC. He was an assistant coach for four years prior to being head coach.
"The Athletic Department, University and community are extremely excited to have Coach Morgan on our team," Athletic Director Steve Nelson said in a press release. "He brings a wealth of coaching experience to our baseball program and will build the necessary foundation to compete and win in the always tough Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference."
Morgan, a former assistant admissions director at CSS, will continue his work in admissions at UWS.
