The University of Minnesota Duluth will open the 2007-08 season with four home games, including a pair of games as part of the first Superior Cup, according to the schedule released Monday.
UMD opens the season Oct. 12 at the DECC against Lake Superior State (the first meeting between the teams since the 1993 NCAA Division I playoffs), followed by a game against Northern Michigan the next night.
The Bulldogs stay home for their Western Collegiate Hockey Association opener Oct. 19-20 against St. Cloud State before going on the road for WCHA series at Denver (Oct. 26, Nov. 3) and Colorado College (Nov. 9-10).
Other highlights of the 36-game schedule include a home exhibition game Dec. 14 against the U.S. National Under-18 Team, the Bulldogs' first games at Massachusetts-Lowell in 20 years (Jan. 25-26) and a grueling three-weekend stretch at home against Colorado College (Feb. 22-23) and defending league champion North Dakota (March 1-2), and on the road at Minnesota (March 7-8).
UMD plays each WCHA team four times except for home-only series against St. Cloud and Alaska-Anchorage, and road-only series against Wisconsin and Denver.

"Hopefully we can take advantage of playing those first two weekends at home against three quality opponents before we hit the road for eight of our next 10 games,'' said UMD coach Scott Sandelin, who will be in his eighth season at UMD.
The Bulldogs won 10 of their last 16 games last season to finish 13-21-5 overall and 8-16-4 in the WCHA.
