Two Duluth women accused of prostitution made initial appearances in Douglas County Circuit Court last week.
Brittany Simone Brown, 23, faces misdemeanor charges of prostitution-sexual contact and theft. Michelle Marie Romero, 35, faces a single charge of prostitution-sexual contact.
According to the criminal complaints:
A Superior man he met Brown in a bar in Superior and they left to go to his residence. The man told Superior Police Officer Nicholas Eastman that when they started "fooling around," Brown told him she wanted him to pay her money.
The two argued and he called 911 about 3:30 a.m. Oct. 18. When police arrived, Brown was gone but her purse was still at the residence. The alleged victim could not find his wallet, money clip or identification. He received a text message from Brown asking to exchange the purse for the wallet at a Superior convenience store. She was arrested at the store after the victim met her there. He told officers that she only returned his driver's license.

Romero was arrested following a police sting at a Superior hotel. A member of the Duluth Police Department placed a call to a backpage posting and set up a meeting Oct. 18. A Superior investigator worked undercover met Romero at the hotel. She agreed to "30 minutes for $100" and told the officer they didn't need to talk about it and should "just have fun." Following her arrest, Romero told Officer Michelle Lear that she did not have a pimp and that she had been in prostitution for about a year "off and on." She said she did have a job but a friend who prostitutes kept bragging about the money prostituting.
