Two men remain in custody for allegedly distributing cocaine and heroin in Superior.
Michael Earl Hawkins, 26, of Superior and Jerard Gregory Hampton, 31, of Chicago made initial appearances in Douglas County Circuit Court on Thursday.
Hawkins faces 10 felony drug charges -- four counts of delivery of heroin, four counts of delivery of cocaine, one count of conspiracy to deliver cocaine and one count of conspiracy to deliver heroin.
Hampton faces eight felony drug counts -- delivery of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver prescription drugs, second and subsequent possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a felon, conspiracy to deliver cocaine and conspiracy to possess with the intent to deliver heroin.

Superior police set up a number of controlled purchases of both heroin and crack cocaine from Hawkins in April and May. After a heroin buy on May 21, Hawkins was arrested. Police found $200 in pre-recorded buy money on Hawkins as well as an Illinois ID. He told them there "must be some mistake. I was just coming from the store."
He was arrested about 60 yards away from a Park Place apartment where officers had seen Hawkins go after a controlled buys the previous week.
Hampton sold crack cocaine to an informant on the same day Hawkins was arrested.
A search warrant was executed at 621 Roosevelt Ave., on May 21. Hampton ran out the back door of the residence as law enforcement officers entered through the front door. Law enforcement officers found about 25 grams of heroin on a small counter in front of the microwave. It appeared the heroin was being packaged into smaller re-salable amounts at the exact time the warrant was executed.
In addition, they found 110.7 grams of crack cocaine packaged in various amounts, 52 grams of powdered cocaine, 2 grams of marijuana and 82 Hydrocodone pills at the residence. A handgun with a partially loaded magazine was also found.
Hampton told officers that Hawkins is his brother and that he was in town to visit his children. He denied knowledge of the heroin that was found on the counter.
Hampton and Hawkins have prior drug convictions from St. Louis County, Minn.
Cash bail of $50,000 was ordered in both cases with conditions the men not possess any controlled substances or paraphernalia and not possess any firearms.
