Nicolette Lindberg played one of the most memorable rounds of her young varsity golf career Tuesday at Spooner. The Northwestern High School sophomore was coming off a difficult No. 3 hole when she stepped up to the par-three No. 4 and aced it.

"She was obviously quite excited and found herself trembling on the next tee box," NHS coach Stacy Burfield said. "She finished strong though, with a total of 49."

With Lindberg's 49, all of the Northwestern golfers finished with scores lower than 50, and the Tigers earned two conference points in the match with Superior and Spooner.

Northwestern's low team score of 179 was just five strokes better than the Superior Spartans, at 184. Spooner had a team score of 216.

"Superior shot an excellent team score, but the Tiger girls were simply on fire," Burfield said. "The kids did an incredible job on the par threes, with no player scoring more than a bogey."

The Tigers' Taylor Prior was the meet medalist, carding a 41. Hayley Botten and Superior's Janelle Strewler tied for runner-up honors with 44s, and coming in at 45 were Allison Gotelaere and Cassie Berg for Superior and Jordan Lindberg for Northwestern.

"Taylor Prior's low score really gave us some breathing room early on," Burfield said. "She's just incredibly consistent right now and determined to do well.

"Hayley and Jordan also had beautiful rounds."
