A woman entering the wrong way on the Bong Bridge sent three people to the hospital Saturday afternoon.

Mary P. Ahlf, 64, of Racine turned into the wrong lane on the divided highway and headed toward Duluth in the Superior-bound lane. Less than a mile from Belknap Street, she struck a Superior bound vehicle driven by 56-year-old Georgann Churchya of Duluth head on. The accident occurred less than a mile from Belknap Street.

According to the Superior Police Department, Churchya was driving in the left lane around a curve, which made it almost impossible to see Ahlf's vehicle before the impact.

Churchya was transported to a Duluth hospital where, police say, she was treated for relatively minor injuries.

Superior and Duluth fire departments spend about 45 minutes extricating Ahlf, and her 63-year-old brother Ronald Ahlf of Spooner. Ronald Ahlf appeared to have only minor injuries, police said.
