The Superior Daily Telegram received nine Wisconsin Newspaper Association awards Friday night at the group's annual convention in Wisconsin Dells.

First place winners include Jed Carlson, local sports column (March Madness: The photographer vs. 'Honest Abe,' A 'Packer Backer,' for just one night and 'This was a bad idea ...'); Rebecca Zunker, best special section (Dining Out Guide); and Ron Miller and Gary Androsky, best use of art service (Car Show). Second place honors were awarded to Rebecca Zunker, best special section (Rings to Roses), and Lynn Tarnowski and Gary Androsky, best advertising sales tool (Let Freedom Ring). Third place winners include Ron Brochu, editorial; Ken Olson, sports page design; Gary Androsky, best special section (Vision Superior); and Lynn Tarnowski and Peggy Day, best newspaper promotion (Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving).

Out-of-state judges selected the winner.
