Teen bands will rock the DECC

Garage bands from across the Northland will battle it out on the DECC stage.

This Junior Achievement head-to-head competition will showcase 15 bands performing 15-minute sets on a massive stage with professional tour lighting and sound on April 19 at 2 p.m.

Battle of the Bands is presented by Lake Superior College and Subway. More than 3,000 are expected to attend this year's show.

Eddie Mapp will be the celebrity Front of House Sound Engineer for all of our bands. Mapp has been on tour with the Stone Temple Pilots, Evanescence and has worked with the Black Label Society and Ozzy Osbourne.

Bands will compete for a prize package that includes a professional recording, a Twin Cities music festival gig, a music video and local radio air play on MIX 108.

Junior Achievement's educational mission includes a Career and College Expo held in conjunction with the event and it begins when doors open at 1 p.m.

Participating schools include Superior High School, Ashland High School, Bayfield High School, Centennial High School, Chetek High School, Cloquet High School, Deer River High School, Duluth Denfeld High School, Duluth East High School, Hermantown High School, Lincoln High School, Mesabi East High School, Northwestern High School, Proctor High School and Washburn High School.

General admission tickets in the balcony are $10, main floor are $12. Tickets are on sale now at Little Stores, the DECC Box Office and participating high schools. $2 discount coupons are available at Subway restaurants across the region.
